Artist Statement
A need to navigate the fissure between inner and outer worlds makes the processes of map making, mark making, artist books, textiles, and installation important rivers threading through my work. I work with the visual and sensory possibilities of sequential layering of textures within space and time in order to express the ephemeral nature of journey, landscape, and knowledge. What at first might seem unmappable-the landscape of the interior, becomes a surface that is worked and reshaped. Positive and negative space bring the visible and invisible into tension and transformation in my work. Many of my images examine the fugitive, elusive, and transitory moments between lost and found.
